If you were to take a peek in my collection I have an overabundance of highlighters, foundation, and eyeshadow palettes. Eyeshadow is a weakness of mine. Nothing like having some glittery lids to boost your mood! With the amount of traveling I do I’ve narrowed down my top three favorite mini palettes. Mini palettes are super easy to travel with or just throw in your bag for a quick touch up. Not to mention, mini palettes will give you a quick selection of colors without becoming too overwhelming to the eye. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t discriminate against bigger eye shadow palettes! I still love them and reach for them very often. But sometimes I am overwhelmed by the 20+ shades in one palette. I have to restrain myself to not slap on 15 colors and look like I just escaped from the circus. Often, mini palettes are a great way to explore a brand without committing to the full-price of their bigger palettes! These three palettes are my go-to. All three are very different but each have terrific quality!
Too Faced Natural Eyes ($36)
Calling all my natural & neutral shade lovers! This one is for you! Within this palette you get a mirror and nine matte and shimmer shades that will give your eyes a soft, sexy, and effortless look. Too Faced shadows are very easy to
work with. Their shimmer shades are not extremely shimmery but they can be built up. Too Faced adds a neat little twist to their mini palettes. They have them set up in the three rows and then noted as “day, classic, fashion.” That way you could go across a row and have a complete look set for you! That takes all the guess work out of creating an eye look. Within this palette as well are three new shades specifically curated for this palette—Nude, Cashmere Bunny, and Chocolate Martini. My favorite shades in this palette are Heaven, Push-Up, & Sexespresso. Sexespresso is perfect for smoking out your lower lash line or using it in place of eyeliner. Fun fact: this palette is a 2014 Bride-Magazine award winner for the best palette to wear on your wedding day!
Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly ($36)
I can’t even begin to describe my love for this palette! From the packaging, to the color selection, the color names, the shadow quality—I am all around obsessed! This is a fun palette. This is for
those of you who like your brown tones but aren’t afraid of a little color or pop. This palette really brings PB&J to life. As with the Natural Eyes palette, this palette has a mirror and nine matte, shimmer, and metallic shades. The blendability is the same but these shadows are infused with Too Faced’s signature antioxidant cocoa powder blend. So you’re getting beautiful PB&J colors that smell like chocolate. YES, PLEASE! You can easily create a natural looking eye with this palette. I’m just saying though, that Jelly color on the lower lash line is a beautiful pop of color! Perfect for summertime. I have nothing bad to say about this palette just that I wish I got my hands on it sooner! This year Too Faced is coming out with its sister palette: Peanut Butter & Honey. You can bet your boots I’m super excited to see that one! I feel like instead of the striking Jelly color of this palette, that palette will need some sort of intense golden yellow shade. We shall see!
Tarte Tartlette Tease ($21)
Tarte is a brand I really fell in love with the end of this year. I had their shadows awhile back but I was not in love with them at all. In
fact, I actually returned the palette that I got. I had heard that they reformulated their shadows so naturally my curiosity was peaked! I figured I’d try the mini palette just to play it safe. Holy bananas Tarte really turned it around on their shadows! They did a complete 180! They really nailed the name with “tease!” These shadows are great. The palette comes with a mirror 6 neutral tone shades—4 matte and 2 shimmer. All of these shades are limited edition; you won’t see them in any other palettes! You have all that you need to create a beautiful look with these 6 shades. I do wish the shimmers were a little more shimmery but overall they aren’t bad. You can also wet your brush beforehand with a setting spray or eye drops before dipping in to the shimmer to create a more pigmented payoff. This palette is perfect for beginners or just someone who loves warm tones like ya girl.
Mini palettes for the win! Fulfill all of your eyeshadow needs easily with a mini palette. A lot of other brands have mini versions of their bigger palettes. Although it did not make it in my top 3, LORAC has a mini version of their LORAC Pro palette that is pretty awesome as well! Lastly, all three of these palettes mentioned above are cruelty free. Too Faced and Tarte are always 100% cruelty free. A huge plus in my book! I hope you’ve found this to be helpful. If you’ve tried any of these palettes or other palettes from these brands, what are your thoughts? I’m always curious to know. Leave me a comment down below and let a girl know!
