I finally got my hands on the LA Girl Pro Coverage Foundation!! Hallelujah! The stores around me don’t sell LA Girl so I had to order it from Amazon. Anytime you order foundation online its’s a little daunting because you never know if you’re going to pick the right shade. Luckily, I did so I can finally deliver to you the good, the bad, and the ugly! I had such high hopes for this baby after seeing all the reviews. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! From the packaging, to the actual foundation, and application it is fantastic!
You really do not want to miss this! Let’s break it down.
First Impression: The packaging looks a lot like the Makeup Forever Ultra HD foundation. The MUF foundation is one of my ultimate favorites. I really don’t understand how companies can get away with such similar packaging but I’m not complaining, I love both! Also, the price point is fantastic. It’s $8 which is on par with most drugstore foundations. Honestly, drugstore foundations have been going way up in price so I was very excited to still see this one for under 10 bucks.
Using the actual product: The foundation is a normal consistency. It is not overly watery or very thick. I tried out the foundation with my beauty sponge and a brush to see if any application proved better. My face is covered in freckles especially over the bridge of my nose and underneath my eyes. This foundation is definitely medium to full coverage. It covered a great deal of my freckles! Only the few very dark ones shown through. You can definitely build up the foundation to the coverage you desire without it becoming cakey. Finish wise, I would say it’s a satin finish. Definitely not super glowy or matte.
Application: My usual preference to applying foundation is with a beauty sponge. I have dry skin so I like the added moisture of the wet sponge. The foundation applies flawlessly with a beauty sponge. It’s super easy to blend out. I liked the way it applied with a brush as well but I feel you get more coverage with it when using a sponge. I always seem to have a problem with drugstore foundations not sticking to my nose or oxidizing. Neither of these issues happened with the LA Girl! The foundation stayed in place all day long. When I took my makeup off later that night, it still looked flawless! I am in awe of how amazing this foundation actually is! Since I’ve bought it, it’s all I have been wearing. I think it’s definitely up there in my top 5 favorite foundations!
MUF Dupe? If you’re a makeup lover you’re probably wondering ‘but how does it compare to MUF?!’ Girl, I got you! I decided the best way to judge would to do half my face with the LA Girl foundation and the other half with MUF. The MUF foundation is thicker than the LA Girl. However, both blend out to the same even coverage (I used a sponge again). Once my face was all finished, I couldn’t tell that I was wearing two different foundations. I asked my sisters which side they thought was the high-end foundation and they couldn’t guess! By the end of the day, the LA Girl side was a little shinier but not so much that it would make a huge difference. Both lasted throughout my hectic day of school, errands, and puppy kisses. I’m not committing to the 100% dupe but it is definitely right there! I would say 96% of the way if I had to give it a number. You can definitely save a chunk of cash and buy this over the MUF!
