New year, new blog! A month late. In actuality though it is a whole new blog this year! I’m sure you
noticed already if you’ve been previously following along! New layout, new theme, new content! In starting off with new content I’m thinking about doing monthly favorites. That way it keeps things current and you’ll be able to follow throughout the year before we do the Best of Beauty again in December! Let’s kick this thing off!
Disclaimer: I didn’t wear a lot of makeup this past month. I spent a majority of it down south with my fiancé and since I’ve been back I’ve been sick with the flu. However, when I did these were my absolute without a doubt go-to products!
Honestly, I’m not really a fan of LORACs previous palettes…I know, I’m a monster for saying that. By the end of the day even with wearing an eyeshadow primer, the shadows would somehow vanish completely from my eyelids. This palette has completely changed my perspective. I love it!!! Not to mention the shadows stay on my lids all day! California Dreaming was inspired by the winter season in LA. New York winters are much different but I can still appreciate a beautiful palette! In my opinion, it is the perfect springtime palette! The palette contains a mix of 12 soft wearable eyeshadows. LORAC probably has some of the softest eyeshadows I have ever felt. To me they feel just like suede. Pigmentation does not skimp! The only shade that was a little skimpy was “Boots” the dark blue. It’s not very uncommon for blue shades to be less pigmented, you can however easily build up the color. My favorite shade is “Kitty” a very shimmery purple-pink rose gold. The packaging has such a cute 90s vibe with little tiny emoji’s. In my book, this palette is easily a 10.
I’ve been eyeing this bronzer for a long time! Probably about three years.. no joke. The packaging is a gorgeous mint green with gold foiling. The product itself is a heart shape; half bronzer and half shimmer bronzer. Initially I thought it was going to be way to shimmery. Basically like I was going to put a stripe of bronzed highlight on my cheeks and temples. I couldn’t be more wrong! It’s such a stunning bronzer. It gives your face definition while also giving your skin a little bit of a glow. It doesn’t make your face look sullen or muddy at all. I definitely don’t suggest contouring with this bronzer because of the shimmer. As a regular all over bronzer, it gives your cheeks a youthful definition. To use it I swirl my brush on both sides of the product and use the highlight and bronzer sides together. You can totally only use one side at time though. I’m absolutely in love and regret not purchasing it sooner!
- NYX Hydra Touch Primer ($13.99)
THIS TAKES THE CAKE! Oh sweet mama. This is for all my dry skin beauties. THIS is what we’ve been waiting for! NYX absolutely killed it with this primer. The packaging is no great shakes but the primer…it is a drink of water for your skin! The primer looks like a silicone primer but it is almost watery to the touch. When placed on the skin to blend in, it soaks right in and makes your skin feel/look super hydrated. Seriously, it is like water splashing right on to your face! I have dry skin but immediately after I use this primer it’s like I have a whole new complexion. The primer has chamomile, green tea and ginseng root extract; ingredients that are all fantastic for your skin! Even on days where I haven’t been wearing makeup I’ve been using this along with my moisturizer and living for it. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) this is a 20!
I love lip gloss. They never went out of style in my book. The ABH glosses are not like your usual glosses. They’re all extremely opaque and smell like vanilla cake! I have the shade “Kristen“- a beautiful pinky brown. It’s the perfect everyday color! You can wear it alone or overtop a lipstick. It’s not sticky on the lips at all rather it is very smooth and comfortable. Kristen is the perfect “my lips but better color.” Meaning it is just like my lip color but adds a little extra something to them. Highly recommend these if you’re more in to a glossy finish but still want the opacity of a lipstick!
5. Target Dollar Section ($1-$3)
The Target dollar section is a magical place. It sucks you right in and all of a sudden you’re spending $20-$30 on things you probably don’t need! This Valentines Day season Target has the cutest selection of pink and white girly things! Naturally, I had to scoop up some cute decorative plates, little glass holders and cute wording signs! I’ve been using them as props for my pictures but they would be cute for displaying jewelry or keeping your lip glosses together! Also, my favorite way to display my brushes are in little candle holders or pencil holders.
What were some of your favorites this month? Have you tried any of these before? Also, let me know what you think about the new theme! Leave me a comment down below!
