I have a heavy hand with everything. Conditioner in my hair (I like to blame it on my thick, curly hair why I run out of conditioner basically every other week. It helps me feel better buying it so often.), nail polish on my nails, cheese on my nachos. I just get excited I guess and lose control! Most of the time though, I have my head in the clouds. I have the attention span of a fish sometimes. I think you can tell by the way this post is starting… Get back on topic, Alex!
How much is way too much with your beauty and skincare products? Some of those bottles of wonder can get pricey! I don’t know about you but I want to make sure that my $40 foundation lasts the length of time that I need it to. The best way to make sure this is a reality is by only using what you need. You do not need a tremendous amount of foundation or face lotion to cover your face. Using too much of these products can cause your skin to 1. Look cakey under your makeup or on top of your makeup and 2. Cause your skin to feel suffocated and heavy. So really, how much is enough?
Face cleanser: Only a about a quarter size amount! It will be more than enough to cover your face and bring down your neck.
Moisturizer: When I moisturize my face I also bring the cream down my neck. Any excess I rub into my hands. A nickel size amount both day and night should suffice!
Foundation: Foundation can be tricky. Sometimes, you may feel you need more in other areas than others. I would say to start out with a penny size amount for your whole face and go from there. Foundation is that type of product that can/will get cakey if you add too much.
Primer: A chocolate chip size is the perfect amount! You don’t need to prime your entire face. Focus mainly in the center of your face like your t-zone area and cheeks.
Facial Oil: Oh goodness this is a tough product. Too much and you’re an oily beast. Too little and you may as well not have used any. Just like primer, a chocolate chip sized amount is more than enough.
Eye Cream: A little goes along way! Your under eye area is tiny. For eye cream, a mini chocolate chip amount for each eye is ideal.
I know makeup/skincare application can get a little daunting because you’re not sure how much you actually need. I hope you found this to be useful! Once I became more conscious of how much I was using my products have lasted a lot longer! My wallet thanks me. Of course you can customize this list to fit your needs!
