When I think of summertime the first couple of words that come to mind are sunshine, tanned skin, and carefree. Why can’t your makeup reflect just that?! This makeup look is one of my go to. It’s quick and simple. With this look I focus mainly on bronzing my skin, keeping my eyes simple and wide and then
adding in some “sunlight” with highlighter. This makeup look is exactly how I would explain summer all wrapped up into one.
For this look you want to use products that will emphasize your skin. I love dewy skin in the summer. Dewy: a skin finish that looks very hydrated; a lot of radiance. Therefore, I like to use foundations with a luminous finish as well as a luminous primer. There are dewy skin mists you can buy, for example Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, in addition to using luminous products. Besides focusing on my skin, I really like to keep my eyes simple. I love me a good winged liner but sometimes I just want to throw on some mascara and be done with it.
Step 1: To begin this look you need to start with fresh, cleaned, moisturized skin. I like to do my eyes first that way if there is any fallout on to my cheeks I
can dust it away easier than if I already had my foundation on. For this look,
I like to use a minimal amount of products (probably still more than your average but minimal for me!) I use my bronzer to sweep through my crease just to add some definition to my eyes and then use a bronze metallic shadow to bring the bronzeness to my eyes as well. To top it off I use my Too Face Better Than Sex mascara. Hands down the BEST mascara I’ve ever used. Yes, it’s pricey but it’s worth every penny. If you like full, voluminous lashes without the clump, you need this in your life! So throw on some mascara and presto you’re done with your eyes.
Step 2: Movin on to the face! My favorite primer for not just summer but all year long is the BECCA Backlight Priming Filter. It is a pearlized primer that leaves
your skin looking so hydrated. The pearlized effect will shine through your foundation too, to give your skin a luminous glow throughout the day. My favorite foundation right now is the Clinque Beyond Perfecting 2-in-1. It’s such a natural finish and lasts all day long. Dot your foundation around your face and then use either a brush or sponge to blend it in. I use the Real Techniques Blending Sponge 9 times out of 10.
Step 3: Say goodbye to those dark circles, it’s concealer time. Whoever said concealer was only for blemishes was wrong. Concealer can be used for
covering so many things, as well as highlighting
specific points on your face. I use my concealer for highlighting a lot. I conceal my dark circles with a downward triangle shape underneath my eyes, then I do a stripe down the bridge of my
nose to highlight as well as a little on my forehead and chin. I use my same Real Techniques sponge to blend it all out. A full concealer dos and don’ts will be up soon
Step 4: Time to bake! No matter if my makeup is full glam or a natural look. I
always bake my concealer. It gives me the piece of mind that my concealer will stay in place all day. Another great tip for the summertime. While my concealer bakes, I take this time to fill in my eyebrows quickly. Don’t know whatbaking is or why it’s such a great technique? You can check out my previous post!
Step 5: Bronzer! Now to really bring this look home we have to warm our skin back up. With bronzer you want go in sort of diagonal from the top of your ear to about midway on your cheek. Or suck in your cheeks and focus your bronzer in the hollow of your cheeks similar to what you’d do for contouring. Start off light and then you can always build it up. It’s easier to build it up instead of trying to take it off. Don’t forget to bronze your temples! Frame your face with that bronze.
Step 6: To complete the look and glow even more, I drench myself in highlighter. Again, to keep with the bronzed goddess appeal, I use a bronze colored highlight. The one I use is a bronzer topper specifically meant for this technique. To highlight, dip your brush into your highlight and dust the tops of your cheekbones. I also dust the tip of my nose and cupids bow.
Step 7: Finally, your eyes and face are done! Swipe on your favorite lip color and you’re ready to go! I used my Essence Liquid Lipstick in 03 almost real, for a nude effect.
