Continuing the new year kickoff with the best skincare products from 2016. If I learned something in 2016 besides a ton of school subjects and life lessons it is that skincare is super important. You only
have one skin so why not take care of it?! I became a real face moisturizer, face wash, and eye cream junkie in 2016. I can confidently say that I’ve narrowed it down to my current ride or die products and my skin has been
looking/feeling great! If you’re not really big in to wearing makeup every day that is totally fine; taking care of your skin though is something you definitely should be in to! Let’s dive right in so you can make 2017 your best skin year yet!
Face wash: Neutrogena Oil-Free Deep Clean Cream Cleanser ($3.79)
Completely found this gem on a whim! I had run out of my usual cleanser but I wasn’t in the mood to spend so much on a new tube let alone dreading the mall parking lot to go to Sephora. So I picked this cleanser up from Target and I was very surprised! First of all, the price difference was fantastic! I usually paid about $20 for my previous cleanser. Neutrogena really nailed this one on the head. It is a cream cleanser so it’s a little thicker than usual cleansers. It will not run through your fingers or down your face in other words. It goes on similar to a mask and will only bubble up and tingle once activated with water. My face hasn’t ever felt so clean after using this! It really gets deep into your pores and cleans everything out. It does leave behind a tingling feeling but it is not overpowering by any means. I used to get tiny breakouts on my cheeks but since using this product I haven’t had ONE breakout. That’s enough convincing for me to continue to repurchase!
Eye cream: Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream ($26.50)
Dark circles? Puffy eyes? No problem! The peptides in this eye cream will instantly make you look more awake, brighter, and de-puffed! It’s like a cup of coffee for your under eyes! I personally have very dark under eyes. It is one of my biggest insecurities. Even when I’m not wearing makeup I usually conceal the dark circles just because I really can’t stand the darkness. This eye cream though changed the game! Within a couple of uses of this cream, the darkness under your eyes will be diminished. Since I’ve started using this I no longer feel insecure about the darkness and have no problem leaving the house without a stitch of makeup on. That is HUGE for me! During the past year I have tried several other eye creams and none of them ever gave me the results this magical orange tube has! I stand behind this eye cream 1,000%. Go get you some!
Face moisturizer: Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief ($39-$52.50)
If you have dry skin this is the moisturizer for you! Using this face moisturizer is like giving your face a huge glass of water. It is so super hydrating you’ll see instance results as soon as you put it on! Clinique is a very skincare conscious brand as it is and they did not disappoint with this product at all. The texture of this is very different from what you’re probably used to- it’s a cream-gel. Not your usual cream texture. It kind of feels a little bouncy in your hand if that makes sense at all. My favorite part about this cream besides the intense all-day hydration is that it absorbs very quickly and is not greasy at all. It won’t give your face the appearance or feeling of an oil slick. If you can go to your local Clinique counter and grab a sample of this, I highly encourage it! Especially during these cold winter months this moisturizer will be lifesaving! No more chapped faces in 2017!
Facial Oil: Cover FX Custom Infusion Drops—A+ Jasmine ($48)
I’m not sure about you but when I heard that putting oil on your face was super beneficial, I was a little skeptical. I always thought that you did not want to add excess oil to your face. I’m here to stop that thinking and hold a hand out for you to grab and jump on this bandwagon as well! Adding oil to your skin will actually keep the moisture in, protect your skin, shrink pores, reduce wrinkles, calm rashes, act as a primer, etc. This list can really go on! My personal favorite facial oil is the Cover FX A+ Jasmine Anti-Aging. It smells like jasmine and leaves your skin feeling plump and ready to go! I usually use this after applying my eye cream and face cream. What I love about this facial oil in particular is the affect it has on blemishes. When placed on a blemish because of the anti-aging properties it has an incredible cell turnover. It will take that blemish and reduce its redness and size pretty much overnight! Yes, please!
Quickly, one of the most helpful things you can do for your skin if you wear makeup is to not sleep with it on! Sleeping with your makeup on shoves everything right into your pores and gives you those breakouts that you hate so much. I use the Clinique Take off the Day Makeup Remover and the Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner and my skin is refreshed and ready to go to sleep! I hope these products help refresh/start your skincare routine for 2017!
