I’ll be the first to admit that I am a makeup collector (I prefer the term collector over hoarder). Naturally I have multiples of all kinds of products. Eyeshadow is one of my favorite products ever, next to foundation. Pretty much if it sparkles, glitters, or is a beautiful matte, I need it in my life! It’s that simple. That being said I have eyeshadow palettes for days. Everything changed however, when the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance made its debut. Anastasia Beverly Hills is known for their single shadows and limited edition palettes. They started off as only an eyebrow product company and slowly began to branch out to shadows, face products, and liquid lipsticks (look out for a post on liquid lips very soon!). Their shadows are super buttery and insanely pigmented. In the past, they’ve had several limited edition palettes. Each of them has delivered on the quality of their product. As limited edition goes, once they sell out, they’re gone (sad face emoji). BUT Anastasia has graced this Earth and made their first permanent palette with the Modern Renaissance. And believe me when I say this one has not disappointed at all! If they were going to make any palette permanent, I’m really happy it’s this one.
The palette itself has a very luxurious feel. It’s pinky velvet casing totally adds to the whole experience. When you open the palette you have a full mirror and a dual ended flat shader/buffer brush. The palette is a warm tone dream! If I had to describe the colors in one word it would be a sunset. There are vibrant pinks, reds, and oranges but also subtle and deeper browns. Most of the fourteen shares are ultra-matte, however one is a metallic finish and another one is a satin finish. These shadows blend seamlessly. Basically they do all the work for you. They’re so easy to use! Added bonus is the amount of looks you could do with this one palette. It is why it is my go to for traveling! Currently it is retailing for $42 which roughly breaks down to $3 a shadow. Not bad if you ask me! You can buy some of these shades in single pans but those are $12 each. When this brand puts out palettes they mix shades that are already in their line with new never seen before shades that are exclusive to that particular palette. Most of the shades in the Modern Renaissance were curated especially for this launch.
This palette in and on my eyes can do no wrong! All the shadows are consistent and give you beautiful color payoff. If I had to change/add one thing to this palette it would be the incorporation of a black, otherwise I’d drop my other palettes like hot potatoes for this one right now! If you have the palette, let me know what you think of it in the comments below!
